Umbrella Rigs

Umbrella rigs are most popular with anglers using them as striped bass lures. Umbrella rigs have two basic configurations:

Umbrella Rigs with Hooks in Teasers: Every teaser bait has a hook in it, with the idea being that you won't miss a strike. This style of umbrella rig is illegal in some states.

Umbrella Rigs Teaser with 1 Stinger: With this style umbrella rig, you're relying on the game fish to strike the stinger, which is often oversized and another color. We prefer this method for a variety of reasons:

1. Fewer Fish are harmed. We support catch and release!
2. You pick up less weed. Each Hook has the ability to grab something. Just one weeded teaser will greatly diminish your umbrella rig's ability to catch fish.
3. You can jigg'n Troll with a teaser style umbrella rig, which can simulate a pulsing school of bait,

We find that 9 times out of 10, a large predator will go for the larger stinger.

To Make your own Teaser Style Umbrella Rig:

Step 1: Select umbrella bar. (We prefer smaller bars with big baits. You’ll have visibility without the drag of a big rig.)

Step 2: Attach Bait Keepers

Step 3:  Attach favorite soft-bait by screwing them onto the keepers.

Step 4: Attach your favorite stinger. (We recommend a larger stinger  in a different color than what you used for teasers.)
