Rigging Hogy® Soft Baits - Swimming Tin

Fishing with swimming tins is a plug and play method. Simply cast and reel! Keep your tip at a 30 degree angle to the water and reel SLOWLY. The swimming tin will do the rest as it wobbles the bait seductively through the water, typically a few feet below the surface.

Why Swimming Tins?

  • Plug and play retrieve, No extra rod action required.
  • Imparts a deadly “wobble” action.
  • Great for trolling
  • Easy to re-rig

Standard Rigging Steps

1. As with jig head, eye ball where you want the hook to exit the bait so it will be able to be pushed up and over one or both barbs and still remain straight.

2. Push head of the soft bait down the hook and over the barb or barbs. Using the barb closest to the hook will result in more action from the bait, which may be desirable in places with little or no current. Pushing the head over the second barb give added strength and is a good idea when fishing in places with very strong current.

3. Connect Swimming Tin on nose connecter.

Please note: the middle eye is for adding a stinger –or- bait keeper. See the optional rigging steps below.

Optional Rigging Steps

Weed-less

1. Attach Hogy® Bait-Keeper to the middle eye of the swimming tin
2. Screw soft bait onto the bait keeper
3. Line up hook with the soft bait and insert
4. Bury the Hook to make the lure weed-less

Stinger Hook

1. Attach stinger-line to the middle eye located on the swimming tin. You can easily crimp the connection or tie directly.
2. Insert stinger hook into bait. If you are using a Hogy with its patented rigging tunnel, thread the hook through the nose and come out the rear of the soft-bait.
