Tarpon rolling everywhere. I usually fish topwater plugs for TARPON, but that day, the fish were very lazy and only produced some slow strikes. Time for the HOGY. No weight, tandom rigged, and worked slowly just under the surface. IT WAS ON!!!! Worked like a charm and had a blast with numerous jumps and one landed.
I love using Hogy Extra Large to pitch at surface busting Blue Fin Tuna. I stumbled upon a big blitz out near the Spencer Canyon and 2 of the guys on my boat started pitching poppers into the frenzy, I decided to use a Large Ballyhoo Hogy instead with a weighted hook. I had 2 hook ups in 30 minutes, boating 2 80-90lb BFT, while my friends could only drop their gear everytime I had a hook up to gaff & boat the fish. Their poppers produced nothing! Needless to say they asked if I had any extra Hogy's, which I did and let them use them. After that all hell broke loose as we all continued to catch and release for the next hour. Everyone's arms could take no more! Hogy's always produce for me. I love your new skirted Ballyhoo design, saves me so much money in buying Ballys too!
Back in the spring during the Cobia run about 20 miles off shore of Savannah. My friend Mitch said he knew we could go catch some nice Cobia if we had these big soft bubble gum colored lures but he did not know where to get them. I told him I would find and have by the week end, some internet searching and I found your company. That Saturday we had three Cobia one weighting over 55 pounds all on bubble gum.
